Neuschwanstein Castle is a 19th-century palace located on a rugged hill in the Bavarian Alps near Schwangau, Germany, close to the Austrian border. Built in the Historicist style, it overlooks the Pöllat Gorge and the Alpsee and Schwansee lakes. Since 2025, it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site *The Palaces of King Ludwig II of Bavaria*. Standing 65 meters (213 feet) tall, it is recognized by Guinness World Records as the tallest castle in the world.
